Privacy Policy

Summary

LocalConvert's privacy policy is simple: your files never leave your device. All conversions — images, audio, video, and documents — happen entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. We don't use cookies or trackers, and analytics are completely anonymous via Cloudflare Web Analytics.

LocalConvert is based on VERT.sh (AGPL-3.0).

Conversions

All conversions happen entirely locally on your device using WebAssembly versions of the relevant tools (FFmpeg, ImageMagick, Pandoc). This means your files never leave your device and no one will ever have access to them. Unlike other converters, this includes video — video conversion is also done locally in your browser.

Donations

If donation functionality is available, payment processing may be handled by a third-party provider. External network requests to the payment provider are deferred, and are only made after you click the button to pay.

Conversion Errors

When a conversion fails, error information stays on your device. No error data is automatically sent to any server. Error details may include:
  • The file type
  • The format you converted from
  • The format you converted to
  • The FFmpeg error output
  • No files are ever uploaded
All error information stays on your device and is never transmitted.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for completely anonymous and aggregated analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies and complies with all major privacy regulations (GDPR/CCPA/PECR). You can opt out of analytics in the "Privacy & data" section in settings and read more about Cloudflare Web Analytics here.

Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to save your settings. No personal data is stored or transmitted.

The WebAssembly versions of the conversion tools we use (FFmpeg, ImageMagick, Pandoc) are also stored locally on your browser when you first visit the website, so you don't need to reload them each visit. No personal data is stored or transmitted. You may view or delete this data at any time in the "Privacy & data" section in settings.
